BIOGRAPHY

Mario Riccitelli: Composer, Bass Player and Music Teacher.


Mario Riccitelli started his musical journey at the age of 9 and was inspired by his father and a friend from school to take up the piano. He took private lessons in Piano, Music Theory and Harmony for 6 years and continued his studies in several music schools such as Professional Musician Institute, Lino Liviabella, Bettino Padovano across Italy. Throughout his musical career, Mario’s most influential teachers have been Massimo Morganti, Giuseppe Continenza, Gary Willis, Gabriele Pesaresi, Phil Peskett, Simon Purcell, Steve Watts, Paul Westwood and more.

 

Mario attended Arcevia Jazz Feast Summer Camp from 2008 to 2013 which led to masterclasses in Improvisation, Music Harmony, Composition, Arrangement, Bass Guitar Technique, Ear Training with some of the biggest artists and composers in the world music scene that included George Garzone, Bob Brookmeyer, Ayn Inserto, Scott Henderson, Gary Willis, John Stowell, Bob Mintzer, Dave Holland, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Scott Henderson and more.

In 1990, Mario began studying bass guitar and played piano and keyboard in several bands. 

Since 1997, Mario has been teaching music privately in schools while working as a professional musician in several Italian and UK bands. His musical expertise as a performer and teacher spans genres from Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz, Latin and Electronic music. 

 

In 2013 he moved to London where he is now based and completed his Bachelor's degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and specialised in Jazz Performance and Composition.


Mario is currently teaching Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Music Theory (including ABRSM Grades), Harmony and Improvisation to students of all levels and ages in London as well as students worldwide via online platforms.
